Customs, duties and documents
Customs rarely rejects a shipment for being wrong. It queries it for being inconsistent — an invoice that says one thing, a packing list that says another, and a transport document that agrees with neither. Most of what follows is about getting one clean story across three pieces of paper, and about the two decisions that have to be made before booking rather than after: how the goods are classified, and who is the importer of record.
